Korean songstress IU has confirmed to bring on-screen romance with Hallyu star Jang Keun-suk.
IU has decided to take on the female leading role in Jang’s upcoming KBS drama, tentatively titled “Pretty Boy,” the show’s promoter Bliss Media said through a press release Tuesday morning.
The singer, whose latest title tune “The Red Shoes” are sweeping the county, will take on all-about-average girl named Kim Botong, who has lived a life dedicated for “Pretty Boy” Dokgo Ma-tae (Jang) ever since she crushed on him in her middle school days.
Although her wicked sense of fashion makes Dokgo frown, Kim continues her own battle to fight against her ultimate enemies, who are women always surrounding Dokgo.
“We are expecting that IU will perfectly portray Kim Botong, who is going to open Doko’s eyes to real love. The ultimate unbalanced couple will introduce viewers to an extraordinary romance that was never seen before,” an official with the show’s producing firm Group 8 was quoted as saying.
Based on a comic book of the same name by renowned Korean cartoonist Chon Kye-young, also famous for hit comic book “Audition,” the series will tell the story of Dokgo Ma-tae, the prettiest boy in the world, who wants to gain money and power by using his beauty.
Co-starring actor Lee Jang-woo of MBC’s dramas “Here Comes Mr. Oh” and “I Do, I Do,” the series will begin its air on KBS from November 20 as the follow-up to current hit melodrama “Secret Love.”
